Group Meditation Class Experience - Free Group Meditation Class in Brisbane, Nundah, Saturday 9am
Human connection is one of the most valuable things we have. And in this world of AI that is arriving, I think it is going to become the most precious thing of all.
A couple of weekends ago, I went to visit our Sydney Meditation centre in Rhodes.
Our method is done both online and in person, and we run our online sessions together with Sydney Meditation. So I see a lot of these members on a screen most weeks.
It's always nice. But it is not the same as being in the room with them.

Something Happens When You're Actually There
I got to sit with people I usually only meet through a webcam. I shared some stories from my own journey with meditation, and they shared theirs. Face to face, in the warm and happy atmosphere our centres have, it all just lands differently.
During the group class, we did a few things together. We stretched the body first, to get the blood flowing, which really does help you settle into meditation. Then we did a group activity where we asked each other questions.
Because our practice is about self-reflection and letting go, sitting together like that opened our minds up. It made it easier to reflect, and easier to be honest.
That is the real power of being together.

Why a Room Full of People Feels Different
The energy of a room full of people meditating is nothing like meditating on your own.
I have done it every way. On my own at home. Online through a screen. And in the centre itself. And honestly, the centre is always the best of the three. There is something about a shared, quiet room that carries you along.
I can't fully explain it. But anyone who has felt it knows exactly what I mean.

Free Meditation Class in Brisbane
At Brisbane Meditation, we are now running free Saturday meditation classes here in Brisbane, open to anyone. You don't need any experience. You just need to turn up.
It isn't the full method, but it gives you a real taste of how it works. We explain a little about the human mind. Where things like stress and anxiety actually come from. And how this practice helps you let them go, rather than just cover them over.
Then we do some guided meditation together, so you can feel for yourself what it means to discard the pictures piled up in your mind. That is usually the moment it clicks for people. A quiet "ahh, so this is how I get to the root of it, not just the surface."

What It's All Really For
The deepest aim of all this is to uncover your True Mind. The one that is already within you.
Here is the thing most of us get wrong. We spend our whole lives searching outside ourselves for peace and happiness. A new thing, a new place, a new feeling. And it works, for a little while. Then it fades, and we go looking again.
The real source was never out there. It is within you. And you reach it not by adding more, but by letting go of everything that isn't really you, until only you remain.
That is the whole goal of this meditation.
So if any of this speaks to you, come along to a free Saturday class and give it a go. Meet some real people, in a real room. In the world that is coming, that might be the most valuable thing you do all week.
