The reasons for people wanting to meditate depend on their own mind and where they are in life. Maybe it's relief from stress or anxiety, desire for more focus and clarity, or just finding some kind of meaning to life. Maureen is in her 70's, and she shares her meditation experience with us so far and how she's found a renewed sense of life and how she's found true happiness and contentment.
I am near to the last years of my life and realise that with all the struggle, stress and pain to achieve what looked like success in life – a good loving family and relationships, work life well done, travel great, comfortable life and now retirement. This was success that cost much in emotional stress and physical break-down and I had still not been able to achieve happiness and contentment. Nothing was lasting and all that effort seemed futile leaving the question “what’s it all about really – surely there is more?” After a family gathering, a family member spoke briefly about how happy she was feeling after doing meditation learning to discard all her thoughts and that maybe I should try it too. Without her small comment on happiness I might still be looking for meaning and better life. I contacted Brisbane Meditation and signed up for a month meditating online, to find out for myself. I was so warmly welcomed by Steven, then at online sessions with Robin, Helen and Lina and I was at last on track to life’s real purpose for me. I’ve learned that being present at the sessions and just following the method have supported me and made it possible to at last experience a profound level of ease. I don’t have to make anything happen. Just follow the method. I’m no longer living with grief and regret. I can more readily hear the problems of family members and others but not get bogged down in them, so there is much less worry and so much more space and freedom to live. Finally, The physical pain is lessening and my energy levels are on the rise. There is life to be lived!! I urge you, if you are searching for relief from the pressures and stress in your life, if your health is suffering, please try this discarding meditation. It is so easy once you decide.
